Peru’s rising star

Once seen as a dull provider of average blender qualities, Peru’s star is rising to great heights these days. The country is full of complexity, in the broadest sense of its meaning. While honoring traditions that highlight rich cultural heritage, Peru bursts with an effervescent desire for innovation.

From ancestral farm lands exposing the power of uncompromising simplicity to culinary rocket science in world’s most famous restaurants: the extremes are all here. The majestic Andes tops over 6000 meters transform into warm clammy jungles with our planet’s richest biodiversity.

All these contradictions shape Peru’s identity and are the breeding grounds for its coffee.

This is Peru

Peru boasts diverse coffee-growing regions, each with its unique terroir and characteristics. Here's a broad overview:

Northern region: This region includes areas like Cajamarca, Amazonas, SanMartín, and Piura. Coffee is grown at high altitudes, typically above 1200 meters, resulting in beans with vibrant acidity and distinct flavor profiles. Farmers here often cultivate traditional varieties like Typica and Bourbon.

Central Region: The country’s historical coffee center. Comprising regions like Junín, Pasco, and Huanuco, the Central Region generally has lower altitudes than in the North and South of Peru, but is characterized by a wide range of micro climates.

Southern region: Located on the eastern side of the Andes, this region includes areas like Puno, Cusco and Ayacucho. Nestled amidst stunning landscapes and high altitudes, coffee farms are often situated at altitudes exceeding 1500 meters, resulting in beans with complex flavors and pronounced acidity.

Our warehouses are located in two of the main coffee regions of Peru. Jaén is the sourcing center for all coffees from the North such as those from Cajamarca and Amazonas, whereas our operation in La Merced procures parchment coffee from producers in the Selva Central. Let us know if you would like to know more about sourcing opportunities in one of the many regions of the country. We have the team and expertise to help you find your coffee.

The ports of Peru are Paita and Callao. From here we export our coffees to anywhere in the world. The coffees that are sourced from Northern departments are usually shipped through Paita and the coffees from South and Central Peru will go through Callao.
